Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to provide daily front-line supervision and technical leadership to a team of mechanical engineers on nuclear projects in Ontario. You will plan work, manage priorities, and ensure safety, quality and budget adherence.

The role requires a P.Eng. designation in Ontario, at least six years of related experience, and a track record of leadership within engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required.
  • Minimum six years of related mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring or providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
  • Experience with nuclear projects or working within an operating nuclear facility.
  • Active OPG or Bruce Power security clearance, depending on assignment.
  • Experience with OPG’s Engineering Change Control process for OPG-related work.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes, standards and criteria.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering assignments through subordinate team members.
  • Strong leadership, scheduling, workload-management and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent technical communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with CAD/FEA/CFD tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision and technical direction to mechanical engineers and project staff.
  • Plan, assign and oversee mechanical engineering activities based on project priorities.
  • Manage team workloads, schedules, workflows and deliverables.
  • Monitor goals, performance and standards of team members.
  • Ensure timely completion of engineering assignments.
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, calculations, specs and docs.
  • Ensure activities comply with codes, nuclear standards, quality requirements and client procedures.
  • Provide technical direction for equipment installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and return-to-service.
  • Support resolution of complex mechanical, construction and field-related issues.
  • Identify risks and implement solutions.
  • Track progress and report to management.
  • Collaborate with clients, operations, project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coach and mentor team members for professional development.
  • Research industry best practices and improve methods and processes.
  • Support project scheduling, budgeting and resource planning.
  • Perform additional supervisory and technical duties as required.

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to provide daily front-line supervision and technical leadership to a team of mechanical engineers and project support staff working on nuclear projects.

The successful candidate will plan and assign engineering work, manage team priorities and workflow, monitor technical deliverables, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable nuclear standards, schedules and budgets.
