Job summary

Orano Canada Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the SABRE project at McClean Lake in Northern Saskatchewan.

You will participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and the design delivery while collaborating with consulting engineers to meet production targets and uphold safety standards. The role focuses on innovation, efficiency, and hands-on execution, with a 14/14 schedule and camp facilities on site.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required with mining focus recommended.
• Licensed or eligible for Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan (APEGS).
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Assist with budget planning, forecasting, and reporting for mining projects.
• Support MLM in achieving production targets and implementing engineered designs.
• Coordinate with consulting engineers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies.

Mechanical Engineer - SABRE

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer

Orano Canada is a leading producer of uranium in Canada, working to power the future with clean energy! As we expand our team and take on exciting new projects in Saskatchewan’s North, we invite you to be a part of our team! In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation and efficiency. You’ll be involved with strategic planning and hands-on execution, as you assess and develop new ore zones to bring into production while embracing the safe and effective implementation of the SABRE mining technique. You’ll navigate immediate and long-term challenges to achieve production targets, while collaborating with consulting engineers to deliver innovative designs. Your knowledge of budgeting and forecasting will empower the team to stay on track, ensuring each project meets OCI’s highest standards.

Responsibilities include

Mining

• Assist with annual operating and capital budgets, forecasting, execution, and reporting
• Recommend and implement department engineering processes and procedures

Project Management

• Support McClean Lake Mining (MLM) in safely achieving production targets, while addressing short and long-term challenges
• Guide consulting engineering and project delivery services in the development and execution of engineered designs and projects
• Assist in managing project delivery, including costs, schedules, quality, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Understand and administer management of change (MOC) to facility changes
• Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

Skills and Qualifications for the position include

• A university degree in Engineering; mining specialization is preferred. Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan with APEGS
• 3 - 5+ years of progressive mine engineering and project delivery experience
• Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Microsoft Project experience is preferred
• Effective planning and organizational skills
• Co-ordinate activities, information, materials or resources within own area of responsibility to meet deadlines
• Ability to interact in a team environment, as well as work independently

Work Location & Schedule

• McClean Lake Operations, Northern Saskatchewan
• Fly-in/Fly-out operation with on-premises camp facilities
• 14 day in/ 14 day out schedule
• Normally an 11-hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
• Able to work outdoors, in all weather conditions

Salary Range

$118,350 - $139,200

This position will fly in and fly out on Friday

Pick-Up Points

Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks.

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
