We are an innovative prosthetic startup dedicated to improving mobility and quality of life for individuals using prosthetic devices. Our team is passionate about creating user-centered solutions, combining mechanical design with real-world insights from clinicians and users.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, with a keen interest in the medical device industry. You’ll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop, refine, and manufacture prosthetic solutions that change lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development and Testing:
    • Conceptualize, design, and optimize mechanical components and systems for prosthetic devices.
    • Use CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360) to create and refine designs.
    • Develop prototypes using additive manufacturing, machining, or other methods.
    • Conduct and document functional, durability, and fatigue testing.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant medical device regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners on design-for-manufacture and assembly processes.
  • Create engineering drawings, bill of materials, and detailed documentation.
  • Oversee prototype and production runs to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Work closely with clinical advisors, users, and other stakeholders to iterate and improve product designs.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and incorporate them into product development.
  • Collaborate with in-house and contracted team members on both iterative and new product development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
    • 2+ years of experience in product development (medical devices, prosthetics or related field preferred).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
    • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing mechanical systems.
    • Familiarity with materials commonly used in prosthetics (e.g., metals, polymers, composites).
    • Hands-on experience with traditional subtractive and/or additive manufacturing.
    • Experience with common cyclic loading fatigue tests and quality assurance practices.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong independent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Adaptable between upbeat pace of innovation, and steady, measured, principled engineering.
    • Contributes diversity of thought and culture to the team.
