With this vision and framework in mind, our Gas & Pipelines Division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Natural Gas Process Piping and Compression to help transform our Utility industry. This position will help achieve the group’s mission tolead decision-making that is data-driven, risk-informed, in alignment with organizational objectives, and delivers optimum value from assets and investments.

The successful candidate will perform engineering design, as well as collaborate with consultant engineers, to produce IFC deliverables to enhance the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our natural gas compression stations and salt caverns natural gas storage plant. This role demands technical expertise and a proactive approach to managing complex engineering projects. Here are a few exciting projects the team is embarking on:

  • Replace aged compressors, pressure control valves, and process control equipment at our salt caverns natural gas storage facility to bolster operational reliability.
  • Replace aged emergency shutdown equipment at compressor stations.
  • Replace aged plant process piping equipment or components (e.g. control valves, ESD valves, line heaters, dehy units, etc.).
  • Implement and trial various emissions monitoring and reduction technologies on compressor combustion and venting.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Project manage, develop and execute multiple projects for the construction, operation, and maintenance of natural gas compressor stations and salt caverns natural gas storage facility.
  • Plan, budget, schedule, report, and ensure overall execution of the design, construction, commissioning, and close-out project phases.
  • Collaborate with a variety of internal teams (engineering, operations, construction, land, procurement, etc.) and external partners (consultants, contractors, vendors, etc.).
  • Contribute to the scope development and evaluation of projects during initiation.
  • Ensure compliance with our company project management processes.

Engineering

  • Responsible for project specific conceptual and detailed technical design in the areas of plant process piping and natural gas compression.
  • Technical expertise in pressure equipment/piping/vessels and the ability to provide mentorship and guidance in the design and execution of pressure equipment related projects.
  • Ensure compliance with code and company specifications, material and equipment specifications, optimization of design for operations and construction, job plan development, and any associated engineering calculations.
  • Develop and improve technical company specifications or processes.
  • Act as technical resource to provide support to other engineers and various internal groups.
  • Complete engineering assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA.
  • 5+ years’ engineering and authentication experience in natural gas compression design, CSA B51, ASME B31.3 is required.
  • Engineering and authentication experience in CSA Z662 is an asset.
  • Experience in wellhead design and/or CSA Z341 is an asset.
  • Experience in project management, design, construction, and operations of natural gas compression and transmission facilities, or other related industries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, decision making, organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic.
  • Highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Class 5 driver’s license
