Job description

Mechanical Engineer - Medical MFG - $100-140K+

• Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility.

• Develop and test new manufacturing processes.

• Work closely with electrical and software engineers, designing with a system-wide perspective.

• Interact with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to optimize for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Specify and manage tool development.

• Create and release product requirements, design specifications, and descriptions for assigned projects, in compliance with medical device standards and internal procedures.

• Follow all policies, procedures, and standards for engineering documentation to ensure compliance.

• Review product documentation for accuracy, including documentation for customer use.

• Participate in designing, prototyping, testing, and qualification of mechanical designs for high-reliability medical devices.

• Support risk assessments, design reviews, pre-production, pilot production, testing, and regulatory submissions.

• Support production activities and resolve issues promptly.

• Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications using advanced analytical and problem-solving techniques.

• Contribute to the development of intellectual property.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product or mechanical device design and manufacturing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • P.Eng from EGBC preferred; willingness to obtain P.Eng license required.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and related add-ins.
  • Experience in design, prototyping, testing, and qualification.
  • Experience with plastic injection mold tool design, including insert molding and over-molding.
  • Proven project development skills in a medical device R&D setting.
  • Ability to set project goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a technical team environment.
  • Ability to make independent engineering judgments.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
