What you will do:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team. As part of the Mechanical Engineering team, your role will be to lead the mechanical systems design as well coordinate across engineering disciplines as the technical project manager.

This position is responsible for directing technical client conversations, overseeing pricing efforts, design development, code reviews, specification compliance, equipment certification, equipment testing, guidance for development of construction documents, support during manufacturing, commissioning, and warranty.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to review performance components, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implement innovative design solutions.

How you will do it:

  • Leadership and Development:Lead and mentor a team of design professionals, fostering collaboration and supporting career growth. Promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

  • Technical Design:Provide technical design support with a focus on mechanical design engineering. Design custom air handling equipment and computer room air handling units to client specifications. Develop and test AHU and MDC products.

  • Project Execution:Take a leading role in project execution, including support for estimating, business development, sales, production improvements, and marketing. Lead project teams and mentor Engineers in Training.

  • Product Optimization:Lead testing activities to evaluate and validate design solutions for HVAC units. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying best practices and implementing innovative design solutions.

  • Documentation:Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design submittals, reports, drawings, and Engineering Change Requests. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for design processes and VAVE initiatives.

  • Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance enhancement. Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc. Eng., B.Eng.)

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation or immediate eligibility for professional membership with APEGA

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering

  • Experience leading team members

  • Practical experience with risk management, product design and testing, estimating, and project management

  • Ability to integrate new technologies into machines and converse with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines

  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Electrical, Structural, and Controls engineering

  • Experience as an APEGA Responsible Member

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Creo, Revit, and ANSYS

  • Minimum of 4 years HVAC design experience

  • Minimum 5 years project management or coordination

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to data center equipment
