The Opportunity:
WSPis currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer-in-Trainingtojoin the Mechanical Engineering team in our Ottawa, ON office. This position would be responsible for modeling, drafting, design and site review of mechanical systems for building projects in the public and private sector.
The Mechanical Engineer-in-Training duties include assisting with the preparation of engineering drawings for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. Additional tasks include documenting the current mechanical systems within an existing building, developing as-built Revit models, assisting in the preparation of studies, and assisting with data analysis.

Qualifications
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Related Engineering degree.
- 0 to 4 years of related experience
- Knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD
- Basic knowledge and understanding of building codes and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and Excel is an asset
- French language proficiency is an asset.
Responsibilities
A day in the life:
- Operate AutoCAD and/or Revit to prepare engineering drawings.
- Assist with the design of mechanical building systems.
- Coordinate with the project team, external vendors, engineers and architects.
- Execute directions as provided by engineers and management.
- Gather appropriate resources to assist in problem solving.
- Occasional local travel will be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Using various programs to perform calculations.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
