Job summary

Verathon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for our Burnaby, BC site to join the Airway Sustaining Team. You will work with design and manufacturing to improve manufacturability, reliability and cost effectiveness of high‑reliability medical devices.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 2+ years in device design, proficiency in SolidWorks and Minitab, and strong root cause analysis and documentation skills. Join a team focused on patient care and product excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of mechanical device design and manufacturing experience.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and SolidWorks add-ins.
• Experience with process validations and root cause investigations.
• Experience using statistical techniques, preferably Minitab.
• Clear technical communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in designing, prototyping, testing and qualification of mechanical designs for high-reliability medical devices.
• Perform root cause investigations and recommend solutions.
• Support production activities and resolve issues quickly.
• Evaluate product non-conformances and propose design modifications.
• Develop and test new manufacturing processes.
• Review vendors process validation plans and protocols.
• Create test plans to verify solutions.
• Coordinate between design and manufacturing groups.
• Assess risk and update technical risk documentation.
• Work with electrical and software engineers on system-wide design considerations.
• Collaborate with global and internal teams to design for manufacturability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
