MECHANICAL ENGINEER II, Elliott Industries

The company is at an exciting inflection as we continue to expand our existing brand portfolio and deepen relationships with new and existing customers. The Mechanical Engineer II will focus on new designs, improving existing designs, and running the drafting department. A secondary function of this position is to assist or lead continuous improvement for manufacturing operations by analyzing, developing, and implementing cost-effective manufacturing solutions to support KPI's. This position will involve leading the implementation of 5S, conducting kaizen events, product quality improvements, root cause analysis, and cost reduction initiatives. Position does not require direct supervision however it will require leading kaizen events.


LOCATION: Mostly Onsite - 1509 Hamilton Rd, Bossier City, LA 71111

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating and modifying designs using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • Communicating with customers on design and technical issues.
  • Ensuring designs comply with IEEE, Utility specifications and other applicable standards.
  • Developing and implementing 5S program.
  • Continuously improving operation procedures and production through planning and leading kaizen events.
  • Supporting plant operations as necessary to ensure KPI's are met.
  • Developing and implementing Capital Expenditure projects.
  • Determining manufacturing equipment needs.
  • Conducting root cause and corrective action for manufacturing non-conformances.
  • Creating documentation of work instructions, standard work, and process flows.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Mechanical preferred, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1-3 Years Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Quality Engineering required.
  • AutoCAD experience required, and Solidworks experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in implementation of 5S.
  • Kaizen leadership experience.
  • Fabrication and Assembly experience.
  • Value stream mapping and Mechanical Assembly experience.
  • Occasionally, may require lifting and exerting in other directions up to 75 pounds.
