Position Profile:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer Co-op role requires good knowledge of mechanics, materials, and machine elements, along with a good understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.

Responsibilities:

• Determine appropriate methods for material handling, considering employee safety, food safety, efficiency, cost, and lead time.
• Participate in and/or lead technical continuous improvement projects, including problem solving, idea generation, preparing investment requests, project coordination, construction, commissioning, verification, and documentation.
• Prepare mechanical designs, create equipment layouts, and review drawings.
• Collaborate with skilled trades to develop assembly procedures for mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Work with vendors to purchase machinery and components.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work within a cross-functional team or independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of materials including metals, plastics, and rubbers.
• Co-op term: May 2024 to August 2024.
