Mechanical Engineer

Description

Our client is looking for an intermediate Mechanical Engineer to work on a wide variety of projects. The mechanical group focuses primarily on hydroelectric projects - recent hydroelectric projects include work on turbines, penstocks and the balance of plant systems for hydroelectric generation stations (piping, pumping, HVAC, drainage). In addition to the hydroelectric projects, we also work with moveable bridges, cranes, and large pumping systems for mining projects. This person would liaise with other people on the mechanical team, as well as other departments.

The person's typical deliverables will include:

1. Design of new hydroelectric facilities
2. Refurbishments and upgrades to hydroelectric facilities
3. Design of large water control gates
4. Conditions assessments of large gates and valves
5. Dam safety, and public safety reviews
6. Hydroelectric facility audits
7. Inspections, major maintenance and refurbishments of large port cranes
8. Written skills in order to maintain level of QC for reports and specifications
9. Slurry transport systems and cyclones for domestic and international mining clients
10. Conventional and custom mechanical designs and systems for large infrastructure projects
11. Marine and port facilities Load calculations for cranes and pressure calculations for hydraulic systems for gates

MUST HAVES:

• AUTOCAD
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• P.Eng. registered with EGBC or other Canadian provincial professional engineering organization
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
• Strong mechanical design experience at hydroelectric facilities [gates, valves, piping, turbines], or with cranes, conveyors, crushers, shiploaders, bulk materials handling equipment
• Experience with preparation of design deliverables

NICE TO HAVES:

• PM experience
• Multiple years of design experience at hydroelectric facilities
• Strong computer skills (MSWord, Excel, Mathcad, Revit, Inventor, Solidworks)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $59.00 - $83.00/hr.
