Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned company, is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Civil Engineer to join our Water practice in Vancouver, Victoria, or Kelowna. You will lead studies, design, and construction engineering for water, storm, and sanitary systems.

Reporting to the Urban Water Group Manager, you’ll mentor staff, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, prepare drawings and reports, and ensure high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC, or eligible for registration.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in water/utility design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of mechanical systems for water, storm, and sanitary projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams through design development and QA processes.
• Prepare schematic drawings, layouts, and P&IDs; develop reports, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents.
• Engineer of Record field review of projects in construction.

The opportunity:

Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical or Civil Engineer to join our team in our Vancouver, Victoria, or Kelowna office. Our Water practice is growing and we’re looking for skilled, motivated and mechanical design-focused individuals to join our team. Reporting to the Urban Water Group Manager, your duties will include leading studies, assessments, design, and construction engineering services for water, storm, and sanitary pump stations as well as valve chambers, pressure control facilities, reservoirs and treatment facilities. You will also participate in mentorship and coaching of junior staff. This position has excellent opportunities for advancement.

What you’ll do:

• Coordinating the work of multidisciplined teams through the design development phase
• Managing our cross-discipline quality management process
• Taking ownership of overall project quality
• Leading the design of mechanical systems, including: hydraulic analysis of piping and pumping systems, selection of equipment (valves, piping, pumps, tanks, screens, etc.), and design calculations
• Lead the preparation of schematic drawings, layouts, and P&IDs with senior support and working with our CAD technicians
• Helping to prepare and author studies and design reports, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents
• Undertaking Engineer of Record field review of projects in construction

Does this sound like you?

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC, or eligible for registration.
• 7+ years of progressive experience
• Proven technical skills.
• Strong written and oral communication, and coordination skills.
• You have a valid BC driver's license
• You are a committed and self-motivated team player
• You have demonstrated ability to work independently and to undertake self-directed learning,
• You have enthusiasm for building internal relationships throughout Associated Engineering’s network of engineering professionals
• You have a passion for hydraulics, pumping and piping systems, and understand the importance of sustainability in design and energy efficiency resulting from system optimization.
• Project management skills are an asset.
