Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Redwater office is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join the team. This position reports to the Facility Engineering Supervisor in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit, part of Pembina’s Facilities Division. The Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit is involved in the fractionation, terminaling and storage of our specification products throughout North America.


This position will work specifically out of the Redwater complex which has several fractionators for processing paraffinic and olefinic natural gas liquids. This growing site also includes significant cavern storage assets and cogeneration gas turbines.


The Mechanical Engineer role is critical to supporting the process engineering, project and maintenance teams ensuring the site operates safely and reliably.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”;
• Mechanical engineering support for continued operation and maintenance of facilities;
• Scope, design, estimate, schedule and execute both sustaining capital improvements, repairs, and operating expense projects following the management of change process and corporate requirements;
• Participate and execute risk assessments as part of the management of change process or to address immediate safety and reliability concerns;
• Provide support to Operations and Maintenance to improve efficiency, integrity, reliability, and resolving various daily trouble shooting issues;
• Vessel and piping design evaluations, including fitness for service assessments and piping stress reviews;
• Support and enforce the application of engineering specifications, industry and regulatory codes, standards and practices at the site;
• Interfacing with and providing oversight of design consultants, engineering firms, industry specialists, service providers and equipment vendors;
• Evaluate the application of new technology at the site;
• Incident investigations to identify root causes of equipment losses and provide recommendations to prevent re-occurrence;
• Review existing equipment conditions and make recommendations to resolve concerns;
• All other duties as assigned; and
• Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

• Candidates to possess a B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering with registration or the ability to be registered with APEGA as an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation;
• Relevant, progressive experience in a plant environment;
• Oil and gas industry and petrochemical experience will be considered an asset;
• Vessel and piping design calculation experience;
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, excellent communication and teamwork skills; and
• Strong background in risk analysis.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
