Our Ideal Candidate

Allnorth's Nanaimo Team is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise across a wide variety of complex multi-discipline industrial engineering studies and detail design projects. Delivering innovative technical solutions within allocated schedules and budgets, you will be actively involved in project delivery including quality assurance, support for proposal development and client engagement. You may also be actively involved in the technical analysis aspects of projects (depending on your background). Working collaboratively with other Allnorth groups you will have the opportunity to successfully deliver on Fiber & Chemical Industries related projects for clients throughout the region.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and written, and a proven ability to collaborate with team members and clients in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Mechanical and Piping Discipline Lead role, taking overall responsibility for the project design requirements
  • Technical competency and strong attention to detail
  • Experience with project development and execution in an industrial environment
  • Design and field experience in the Pulp & Paper, Mining, Oil & Gas and/or related process industries
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered as a P.Eng in the province of British Columbia
  • Registered or eligible to register as a P.E. in any US state is highly desired
  • 7-10 years mechanical and piping experience, ideally in a consulting environment
  • Engineering and design experience within a multi-discipline 3D model workflow/environment
  • Experience with ASME B31.3 and B31.1 piping codes, API 650, ASME Section VIII Div 1, NFPA codes, CSA Z662 and CSA B149 is desired
  • Experience with the design registration of power piping systems and pressure vessel design modifications with the safety authority is an asset
  • Experience with sizing, selection and layout for process equipment for the process industries
  • Experience with developing procurement datasheets, specifications and engineering/construction work packages
  • Design experience with engineering software packages such as PipeFlo, AutoPipe, Caesar, Compress, Tank, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse and SolidWorks FEA
