Job summary

Enginuity is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver innovative, market-ready solutions. You will plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new and existing products, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to meet client and company objectives.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years of experience, strong CAD skills (Inventor preferred) and familiarity with FEA, codes (DNV/CSA/ASME), and welded aluminum assemblies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4+ years experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals.
  • Advanced CAD skills.
  • Experience with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor).
  • Experience with FEA software (Siemens Femap).
  • Familiar with regulatory codes (DNV, CSA, ASME).
  • Familiar with welded aluminum assemblies.
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 projects is an asset.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Ability to obtain controlled goods and reliability clearance.

  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work (FBDs, load calculations, stress/strain).

  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and with vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain and support a positive environment for learning and growth within the team.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer, Team Lead, your role as Mechanical Engineer will demonstrate work excellence by designing and delivering innovative, market-ready solutions to address client and internal technical challenges. The role works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to enhance products, support engineering services, and provide practical, high-quality solutions that meet customer needs and organizational objectives. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Understand and participate in the engineering design process to support new product design activities, and service support engineering.
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new and existing products.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work (FBDs, static/dynamic load calculations, stress/strain, etc.).
  • Analyze and validate design concepts; develop testing procedures and verify suitability of design outputs to relevant standards.
  • Perform detailed documentation to certify designs and track project development.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain and support a positive environment for learning and growth within the team.
THE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4+ years experience in mechanical engineering preferably in an Industrial or Aerospace environment.
  • Very strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Advanced computer aided design skills.
  • Experience with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor considered an asset).
  • Experience with FEA software (Siemens Femap considered an asset).
  • Familiar with typical regulatory codes and design guides for mechanical/structural/marine engineering (DNV, CSA, ASME, etc.)
  • Familiar with welded structural aluminum assemblies.
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 projects considered an asset.
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to multi-task, address and prioritize assignments.
  • Must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a professional engineer (or engineer-in-training) with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Ability to obtain controlled goods and reliability clearance.

Our office is located in the heart of Spryfield, but more specifically, at 264 Herring Cove Road in Suite #100. If you know the Spryfield area - we are right across the street from Sobeys, close to the ever-increasing options for interesting lunches, and right next to beautiful lakes, forests, and trails.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

Our office is open Monday - Friday between 9am - 5pm. Our corporate culture values work-life balance, allowing a flexible, 8 hour workday. Remote desk options are also available at locations within the regional Innovation Ecosystem, including Dalhousie ideaHUB, C.O.V.E., ThePIER, Ignite Labs.
