JOB POSTING:

Position: Mechanical Engineer Location: Edmonton, Alberta (12-month contract)

THE ROLE:

Support the design, and testing of new or improved Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) tank products and components by applying mechanical engineering principles—particularly in composites—while collaborating with cross-functional teams including design support, manufacturing, procurement, and quality. Provide engineering support to internal teams and external customers by resolving technically issues, make sure the tanks are in compliance with Xerxes and applicable industry standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of all Xerxes products.
  • Develop test plans, conduct or support testing, and prepare technical qualification reports.
  • Provide technical input on product design and qualification, and work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams.
  • Create detailed 3D models of tanks, accessories, or test equipment to support product design, manufacturing and operations.
  • Troubleshoot product performance or operational issues, including on-site manufacturing support.
  • Interfacing with suppliers and other departments to meet project demands.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analysis, problem solving and identification skills
  • Excellent communication skills across a broad range of technical backgrounds
  • Project management experience and equivalent moderate skill set
  • Mechanical Engineer with P.Eng. designation or equivalent in given jurisdiction
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer is preferred
  • Expertise in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD system
  • Experience executing mechanical construction and de-construction
  • Deep understanding of machine control systems will be an asset
  • Experience with processing of composites and plastics will be an asset
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment performing design and commissioning activities
  • Occasional travel will be required up to 10% of the time and typically batched at project start and end within North America
  • SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mechanical aptitude, general manufacturing, and fabrication process knowledge
