Job summary

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions in Calgary, AB is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 12-month term from May 3, 2027 to May 2, 2028. You will help design GNSS product enclosures, test fixtures, and packaging while supporting PCB integration and EMI/EMC considerations.

The role focuses on mechanical design, enclosure development, design verification, and hardware validation for rugged GNSS products. Onsite work, collaboration with suppliers, and hands-on prototype testing are involved.

Qualifications

• Registered in an Engineering Internship/Co-op program and completed at least 2nd or 3rd year of studies by start.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Inventor, or similar.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Available for a 12-month, full-time internship in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Design GNSS product enclosures, antenna housings, seals, gaskets, mounting systems, and test fixtures.
• Support PCB integration and packaging while considering antenna performance, EMI, and EMC requirements.
• Create manufacturing drawings including GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Build, assemble, and evaluate prototypes for fit, function, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Develop and execute design verification test specifications plans and procedures.
• Support environmental testing including vibration, HALT, thermal cycling, and ingress testing.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, and participate in root-cause investigations.
• Participate in DFMEA activities to improve robustness and reliability.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing on materials, processes, tooling, and quality.
• Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives for mechanical design and testing.
