Job Summary

The Junior Mechanical Designer is responsible for producing high-quality work, ensuring compliance with design standards, and meeting work deadlines. This role involves creating comprehensive project drawing sets for proposals and submittals, creating 2D and 3D models upon request, assisting in the preparation of 'As-Builds' for installation and operations manuals and providing assistance to intermediate and senior designers.

Responsibilities

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review project data, emails and scope of work information to create and incorporate into project drawings sets.
  • Develop required project drawing sets for proposals as directed.
  • Develop required project drawing sets for submittals as directed
  • Update the project ‘Weights’ spreadsheet as required.
  • Update drawing(s) with changes as directed
  • Create 2D and 3D models for customers when requested
  • Provide assistance to senior designers when directed, and interface with the Director of Engineering, or his designate, for clarifications and resolution to issues.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal design team members
  • Assist in the preparation of ‘As-Builds’ for installation and operations manuals when required
  • Assist in any other related tasks as directed
  • Be willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally if required

Job Qualifications

  • Qualified Engineering Technologist / Technician /Draftsman (3 year college diploma required)
  • Mechanical design experience, preferably within HVAC is an asset.
  • Proficient in Solid Works, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, EPDM.
  • Employ a friendly personality, respectful of co-workers and be able to work with individuals as part of a team.
  • Able to multitask and work efficiently in a demanding environment.
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to take direction and communicate with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the position.

Contacts

  • Internal engineering and shop staff and contractors to exchange information, answer questions and problem solve.

Effort (Physical & Sensory)

  • Perform work sitting and using computers for 8-10 hours per day
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, use of fine motor skills
  • Occasional light lifting during the course of performing tasks
  • Regular vision/sensory demands: close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels when out in the plant environment
