Job summary

Thermon Canada is seeking a Mechanical Designer to lead the design of mechanical equipment and packaged systems for industrial heating solutions. You will report to the Engineering Lead and manage design packages, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with codes.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanical engineering degree, Ontario P.Eng eligibility, and 0–10 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PDMS is required; ASME BPVC knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• P.Eng in Ontario or eligible and pursuing licensure.
• 0-10 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PDMS.
• Familiar with ASME BPVC and pressure vessel knowledge.
• Autodesk Vault and MathCAD are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review technical specifications, manage design packages—vendor docs, drawings, reports, procedures.
• Review project specs and standards to ensure compliance during design and manufacturing.
• Prepare BOMs, specification sheets, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Prepare and review pressure vessel design reports and calculations.
• Provide engineering support to stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with production, welding and QA to ensure designs meet standards.
• Participate in design reviews and support manufacturability improvements.
• Follow Thermon's quality procedures.
• Maintain computer data files and document records.

The Role

Report to the Engineering Lead, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for performing, reviewing, and/or overseeing the design and detail engineering of mechanical equipment and packaged systems related to industrial heating and filtration equipment. Candidate with process design experiences is an asset. Background with electrical and control system is an asset but not required.

Primary Duties

• Review technical specifications, prepare and manage design packages - vendor document list, design drawings, design reports, engineering and welding procedures, and other technical documentations;
• Review and interpret project specifications, engineering codes, and standards to ensure compliance during all phases of the design and manufacturing process;
• Prepare material lists (BOM), specification sheets, and detail manufacturing drawings;
• Prepare and/or review pressure vessel design reports and other required calculations;
• Provide engineering and technical support to various stakeholders in a timely manner;
• Work closely with production, welding, and quality assurance teams to ensure that designs are accurately implemented and meet quality and safety standards;
• Participate in design review meetings and provide feedback between production and engineering for manufacturability of design;
• Follow all Thermon's quality procedures;
• Maintain computer data files and document records.

Education And Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in mechanical engineering. Other discipline but with related work experience will be considered;
• Licensed professional engineer in Ontario or eligible and working towards one;
• 0-10 years of relevant industrial experiences;
• Proficient with design tools and software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or PDMS.
• Strong understanding in general engineering / manufacturing practices and standards, such as ISO, ASME;
• Knowledge of materials properties, welding techniques, and fabrication processes for pressure vessel manufacturing is preferred;
• Working knowledge and experience with ASME BPVC, particularly Section VIII Div.1 is preferred;
• Working knowledge with Autodesk Vault is an asset;
• Working knowledge with COMPRESS and MathCAD is an asset.
