Job description

Actalent is hiring for a MECHANICAL DESIGNER for one of our clients located in the South Shore of Montreal, QC.

Description

In this role you will have to support 3 different types of Engineering Change Requests (ECR): Line Support, Supply Chain and Quality in partnership with a Mechanical Engineer.

1. 80% of your time will be spent on mechanical design for sub systems such as: battery support, motor support, electrical components support, HVAC systems integration, safety systems etc.
2. You will be responsible for both 2D drawings and 3D designs on Inventor.
3. Participate in troubleshooting activities.
4. Work on solutions with the engineer and manufacturing team.
5. Complete design modifications on Inventor.
6. 20% of your time will be spent on documentation and parts verification upon reception.
7. You will be working on 2 to 3 mandates at a time depending on the scope.
8. Upload design modifications in PLM-La Voute.
9. Communicate with the purchasing team once modifications are approved to place orders.
10. Communicate with the Quality team for retrofit inspection.

Skills & Qualifications

• DEC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Mechanical Design for new product development.
• Previous experience doing design modifications.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and modify technical drawings.
• Previous experience with GD&T and Welding symbols.
• Previous experience working with Inventor/Autodesk or Solidworks.
• Previous experience in tooling/tooling design is a nice to have (sheet metal parts and welded parts).

Pay Rate: Dependent on experience and qualifications.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
