About the Role:

We’re currently looking for an intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our growing team in Edmonton, Alberta.

What Will You Be Doing?
  1. Provide the coordination, verification, and design of mechanical building systems in various sectors (multi-family residential, commercial, industrial).
  2. Develop mechanical system designs in compliance with applicable municipal, provincial, and national building codes, as well as relevant industry standards.
  3. Collaborate with other disciplines—such as architectural, structural, electrical, and fire protection—to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
  4. Create HVAC system layouts, including the sizing and design of ductwork and piping for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  5. Develop plumbing system layouts and designs, including gas piping, sanitary and storm drainage, and domestic water distribution.
  6. Perform detailed calculations to accurately size mechanical equipment, ductwork, HVAC piping, and plumbing systems.
  7. Utilize computer-aided design tools, including AutoCAD and Revit, to develop mechanical system designs.
  8. Liaise with equipment vendors and manufacturers for mechanical equipment selections, obtain technical support, and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  9. Conduct site inspections and support construction activities by preparing change directives and addressing issues as they arise during the construction phase.
What You Bring:
  1. Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Engineering Technology.
  2. Registration in good standing with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) considered an asset.
  3. Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  4. Proven experience in the design of multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial building projects.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  6. Solid understanding of applicable building codes and standards related to mechanical engineering and consulting.
  7. Fluent in English.
  8. Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks without guidance.
  9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  10. Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage tight deadlines, self-schedule, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across various sectors and locations.
