Job summary

Blue Robotics seeks an engineering student to design mechanical assemblies such as pressure-rated enclosures, battery modules, and vehicle frames. You will evaluate failure modes and support validation campaigns to ensure reliability and safety.

You will build lab equipment, perform tests, and collaborate with suppliers to source parts and improve designs. This role is ideal for hands-on learners who thrive in a team environment and enjoy practical experimentation.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an Engineering degree related field.
• Solid CAD modelling and drafting experience.
• Interest in mechanisms, testing and hands-on building.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Design new and complex mechanical assemblies (enclosures, motors, battery modules, connectors, lights, frames).
• Evaluate system failure modes and support validation plans.
• Component and vehicle-level testing for performance, durability, and variability.
• Design and test lab equipment and perform lab tests.
• Identify and engage with new suppliers and build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Design new and complex mechanical assemblies, such as pressure-rated enclosures, brushless motors, battery modules, connectors, lights, electronics trays, cameras, and vehicle frames
• Evaluate system failure modes, create validation plans and support the execution of these plans
• Component and vehicle-level testing for performance, durability, reliability, and variability
• Design new lab testing equipment and perform lab testing
• Find, communicate with, and build relationships with new suppliers

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree in a related field (Mechanical Engineering, Eng Phys, Mechatronics, etc.)
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting of components and assemblies in at least one CAD software package (Solidworks, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, etc)
• Strong and growing foundation in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and engineering materials
• Designed, built, and tested some interesting things so far
• Deep, insatiable impulse to understand, and leverage that understanding to create new things
• Innate desire to collaborate, learn, and adapt
