Qualifications

  • Previous tanker experience required.
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems (ISO & ISM).
  • Strong sense of responsibility and pride in overall condition of machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all vessel machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with monitoring of equipment including checking gauges and recording readings.
  • Perform troubleshooting, problem solving, and maintenance as directed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Engineering Officer
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all vessel machinery and equipment
  • Assist with monitoring of equipment including checking gauges and recording reading
  • Reporting of any incident and/or damage affecting sea worthiness
  • Perform troubleshooting, problem solving as well as preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by the Engineering Officer
  • Ensure the machinery is in compliance and meets regulatory and class requirements
  • Understanding of pollution regulations and the company's objectives regarding environmental protection
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Engine Room Rating Certificate issued by Transport Canada
  • Oil and Chemical Tanker Familiarization
  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED’s) STCW Basic Safety and Survival Craft Certifications
  • Transport Canada Marine Medical
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems (ISO & ISM)
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite an asset
  • Strong sense of responsibility and pride in overall condition of machinery
  • Strong communication and proven teamwork skills
  • Self-starter, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Previous Tanker experience required
