Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, particularly in Clean and Dry Rooms, Automotive, or Pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

About The Role

We are looking for a Mechanical and Electrical Specialist – Forming & Aging based out of the St. Thomas, Ontario office. This is a fully on-site role.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical & Electrical Specialist to lead the construction management of mechanical and electrical systems across our projects. In this role, you will ensure that all operations meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety codes, contributing to the successful delivery of our high-quality projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all on-site mechanical and electrical operations, ensuring alignment with project design specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Thoroughly review construction drawings, documentation, and BIM models to identify and resolve any potential conflicts between architectural/structural elements and mechanical/electrical systems, ensuring smooth system integration.
  • Coordinate and streamline mechanical and electrical workflows by reviewing relevant drawings and documents, minimizing schedule disruptions, and ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Collaborate closely with both internal teams and external partners to track project timelines, manage RFIs (Requests for Information), and oversee the approval process for shop drawings.
  • Supervise on-site mechanical and electrical installations, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Monitor and control the costs associated with materials and labor for mechanical and electrical components, ensuring timely and accurate quality reporting.
  • Support resource planning and procurement processes to ensure timely material and equipment delivery while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify potential project risks and implement corrective actions to prevent delays or budget overruns.
  • Provide expert guidance during system testing, ensuring mechanical and electrical systems operate efficiently and meet performance standards.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including conducting final inspections, preparing documentation, and facilitating the handover to internal teams.
  • Prepare and submit detailed project reports, including progress updates, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical training and industry certifications.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex projects within Clean and Dry Rooms, Automotive, or Pharmaceutical environments, with expertise in scope development, specification creation, tendering, contractor management, quality assurance, and project closeout.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Proven experience working within large, multidisciplinary teams and participating actively in project meetings.
  • Experience with Design-Build projects and a solid understanding of both the design and construction processes.
  • Proficient in interpreting and understanding construction drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD software, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and other project management tools.
  • Deep understanding of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Skilled at identifying potential challenges and resolving them with logical and analytical approaches.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills when interacting with engineers, architects, and construction managers.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring project components meet the overall goals and specifications.
  • Proficient in construction scheduling, workflow management, and quality control/assurance processes.
  • German language skills are considered an asset.
