Job description

The Army Virtual Recruiting Team of Columbus, Ohio is currently looking to hire Active Duty and Reserve Soldiers.

Requirements:

  1. You must enlist in the United States Army to obtain this position.
  2. You must be between the ages of 17-34.
  3. You must have a GED or High School Diploma.
  4. You must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Cardholder.
  5. Must meet Army Height and weight standards.

Overview:

The wheeled vehicle mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles.

Job Duties:

  1. Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers, and material handling equipment systems.
  2. Inspect, service, maintain, repair, replace, adjust, and test wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems, and components.
  3. Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems.
  4. Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations.

Training:

Job training for a wheeled vehicle mechanic requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

  3. Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems.
  4. Interest in automotive engines and how they work.
