Job description

We Invite Applications For The Position Of Full-Time Mechanic - Transportation
Pay Grade 11 - Job #1138 - $40.02/hour

The workload for this position is forty (40) hours per week, twelve (12) months of the year.

Under the direction of the Transportation Manager/Mechanical Coordinator, this position is responsible for repairs and maintenance of district vehicles, equipment and school buses.

Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, odors, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc.

Applicants Must Have

  • Completed Grade 12 (Senior Secondary School Graduation);
  • Interprovincial Heavy-Duty Service Technician Trade Certification with an Interprovincial Commercial Transport Vehicle Trade Certification;
  • Class 1 or Class 2 Drivers license with Air Endorsement (or be willing to obtain);
  • CNG Certificate;
  • Proven experience and demonstrated skills in the use and techniques of tools, equipment and safety precautions pertaining to the use and maintenance of the district fleet vehicles and equipment;
  • Practical experience with electronic system diagnosis, electronic injection systems, diesel, electric and natural gas powered vehicles, including vehicle components, such as air brake systems, automatic transmissions, air bag systems and hydraulic systems;
  • Completed the required Health & Safety training.

Applicants Must Be

  • Able to carry, lift, push and pull awkward or large heavy objects up to 50 lbs. or more;
  • Flexible and adaptable to varied working conditions. Able to work with minimum supervision, alone and in a team orientated environment;
  • Self-motivated.

The Following Would Be Considered An Asset
