Mechanic - Trades 2 (Operations)
(CUPE Full-time, Regular)
The City of Pitt Meadows is recruiting a Mechanic to perform skilled mechanical and maintenance work on the City’s broad fleet and small equipment. Reporting to the Lead Mechanic, this role performs duties performs maintenance and repair on a variety of automotive, heavy duty and miscellaneous equipment.They are responsible for following a preventative maintenance schedule, updating records, and makes recommendations on repairs. This position works closely with the Lead Mechanic, but may also direct the work of subordinates or other staff who are assisting with the work.
Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, however, this position is eligible for participation in our Earned Day Off Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from Grade 12 and completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the trade program
- Considerable experience in the repair, overhaul and maintenance of a variety of types of automotive, heavy duty and miscellaneous mobile and stationary equipment.
- Some supervisory experience.
- Five years general experience applicable to the work or a combination of training and experience.
- Heavy Duty Trades and/or Commercial Transport Qualification Certificate.
- Motor Vehicle Inspectors Certificate with Air Endorsement
- A valid Class 3 B.C. Driver’s License with Air Endorsement
