Job summary

Precision Drilling is seeking a Power Systems Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and overhaul heavy-duty diesel engines and related components. You will perform complete engine tear-downs and rebuilds, maintaining high workmanship standards and accountability.

The role requires 5–7 years of experience with diesel engines, completion of a diesel or related technical program, and proficiency with OEM diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized diesel, natural gas engine, or related technical training program; experience using OEM engine diagnostic software required.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, test, and troubleshoot heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform engine repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds per manufacturer specifications and manuals.
  • Inspect components for wear and maintenance needs to improve reliability.

The Mechanic, Power Systems, is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling heavy - duty diesel engines and related components to ensure safe, reliable equipment performance. This role performs complete engine tear - downs and rebuilds, maintains high standards of workmanship and accountability, and delivers quality repairs through strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and independent problem - solving.

DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Diagnose, inspect, test, and troubleshoot heavy - duty diesel engines and related mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, electronic, and control systems
  • Performs engine repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds in accordance with manufacturer specifications, service manuals, and technical standards
  • Inspect engine components and identify wear, damage, and preventative maintenance requirements to improve equipment reliability
  • Prepare repair recommendations, parts requirements, and cost estimates, then document inspections, test results, repairs, and replacement components
  • Conduct post - repair testing, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and follow all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • 5-7 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling diesel engines, with the ability to work independently under limited supervision
  • Graduate of a recognized diesel, natural gas engine, or related technical training program; experience using OEM engine diagnostic software required
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, repair procedures, and related mechanical and electrical systems, including fuel, turbo, EGR, charging, and starting systems
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem - solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and diagrams
  • Excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, equipment, and repair procedures
