Job summary

Bora Pharmaceuticals in Mississauga is seeking a Millwright to maintain pilot plant equipment supporting formulation development and GMP activities. You will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mixers, fillers, tablet presses, and packaging systems.

The role requires troubleshooting, equipment installation, qualification support, and collaboration with Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of pharmaceutical or pilot plant equipment.
  • GMP and SOP knowledge is essential.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with automation and control systems used in pharma equipment.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical support to pilot plant pharmaceutical development and GMP activities.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment used in formulation, processing, and packaging development.
  • Support installation, qualification, and validation of pilot-scale and development equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure timely completion of work orders and documentation.
  • Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and operation during development and scale-up batches.
  • Work cross-functionally with Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support projects.
  • Identify equipment performance issues and implement corrective and continuous improvement solutions.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and multidisciplinary teams for troubleshooting when needed.
  • Assist in developing and revising SOPs, maintenance procedures, and training documents.
  • Maintain expertise in pilot plant equipment including mixers, fillers, tablet presses, and packaging systems.
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend design or component improvements.
  • Source and identify replacement components, including obsolete parts.
  • Support operators by providing training on equipment setup and maintenance practices.

Position Status

This is a permanent fulltime and a backfill position. The role is an active, approved vacancy within the organization and is intended to be filled as part of current staffing needs.

General Description

Responsible for preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance of pilot plant equipment supporting formulation, scale-up, and validation activities. This role ensures reliable and efficient operation of equipment while maintaining compliance with GMP and continuous improvement standards. Perform mechanical duties of Tier 1 Millwright but with the more advanced troubleshooting skills on mechanical production/pilot scale equipment including but not limited to:

Experience & Skills
  • Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of pharmaceutical or pilot plant equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and SOP requirements.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment design, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems (e.g., Office, SAP, maintenance systems).
  • Understanding of automation and control systems used in pharmaceutical equipment.
Education
  • High school diploma or technical school training.
Working Conditions
  • Work in pilot plant and manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to GMP-controlled areas requiring PPE and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Occasional overtime based on project timelines.
  • Flexibility to support extended hours, weekends, or critical development runs.

Compensation Range
