Job summary

Bora Bora Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Automation/Controls Engineer to champion equipment automation and contribute to strategic projects across production and packaging operations. The role focuses on electrical/controls design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in a GMP environment.

The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage control system installations, and ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. Engineering in a related field (Chemical, Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, etc.).
  • Current P. Eng. status (or eligible).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing/packaging.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line engineering technical and troubleshooting support for automation/control issues.
  • Develop strategic technical plans with customers to meet forecasted needs.
  • Lead equipment automation improvements and project execution on site.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Design, specify, procure, install, and qualify site control systems.
  • Ensure EH&S awareness throughout project stages.
  • Select and manage consultants, contractors, suppliers.
  • Support CAPA investigations and root-cause analyses.

General Description

Champions equipment automation initiatives to achieve strategic goals, support production, and new supply mandates. Supports equipment compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first line of engineering technical and troubleshooting support to resolve automation and control system issues.
  • Develop strategic technical plans in collaboration with Customer to meet the forecasted business need .
  • Develop and implement equipment automation improvements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to establish and meet project plan goals.
  • Design, specify (URS/FS/DS), procure, install, commission, qualify (IQ/OQ) and handover of projects for site equipment control systems.
  • Ensure Environmental, Health & Safety awareness through all project stages.
  • Select and manage professional consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Support deviation investigations by acting as the Engineering Subject Matter Expert for CAPA development and Root Cause Analyses; manage completion of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
  • Develop and author site automation procedures, standards, and Equipment Validation Reports.
  • Maintain computer system configuration records (e.g. version control, backups, user access control lists).
  • Participate in site change control procedures as change owner, technical reviewer, or task owner.
  • Lead controls projects on site with focus on data integrity and controls obsolescence initiatives/mandates, and support serialization where required.
Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Engineering experience in the manufacturing and packaging industry.
  • Current P. Eng. status (or equivalent) or eligible.
  • Expert and extensive technical knowledge in electrical and controls design (hardware and software); specific programming fluency, as required (i.e. Modicon, Allen Bradley, Visual Basic etc.).
  • Excellence in design, troubleshooting and optimization of the electrical and computer control systems for manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable legislation, Good Engineering Practices, and current GMPs.
  • Good project management skills and ability to handle multiple complex projects, with cross functional teams and independently.
  • Sound analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, negotiation, organization and influencing skills.
  • Excellent technical communication skills.
Education Required

B.Sc. Engineering - Various specialties (Chemical, Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, etc.).

Working Conditions

Must be flexible for occasional after hours and weekend support.

Compensation Range

$81,240 - $101,550
