Transdev is hiring a LOCAL Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Technician (Journeyman) for our Kitimat, British Columbia location!

We are seeking permanent, full-time mechanics with a competitive hourly rate starting at $49.08/hr (plus a $6/hr premium for all regular hours!).

Your Role

1. Lead preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
2. Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, oil and tire changes, and write detailed inspection reports and repair plans.
3. Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
4. Use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify faults and replace parts as needed.
5. Overhaul engines and work on power shift transmissions, fuel injection systems, hydraulics, and electronics.
6. Lead road calls and emergency services when required.
7. Move vehicles safely and perform test drives to ensure proper functioning.
8. Maintain accurate work records and communicate safety issues to supervisors.
9. Train staff and participate in toolbox meetings.
10. Adhere to company standards, policies, and procedures.

Your Profile

• Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Journeyman certification.
• Class 5 (AB) driver’s license with air endorsement; willingness to obtain Class 2 license within 3 months.
• Vehicle Inspection Certificate or willingness to acquire within 3 months.
• Appropriate mechanic’s tools, problem-solving skills, and computer proficiency.
• Experience with diesel vehicles and ability to work independently or in a team.

Location & Schedule

• Full-time, unionized position based in Kitimat or Terrace.
• 40 hours/week, with shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, following a 5 on/2 off rotation.
• Must reside locally in one of these areas.
