Role Summary

Industrial mechanics (millwrights) work on industrial and mechanical equipment, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel, lubrication, cooling, and exhaust systems. Responsibilities include assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, diagnosing, and dismantling equipment, as well as servicing components like pumps, gearboxes, fans, tanks, conveyors, presses, generators, and robotic systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to health, safety, and food safety policies, including PPE use.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
• Perform welding, cutting, rigging, and machining tasks as needed.
• Utilize schematics and manuals to determine work procedures.
• Use hand and power tools, and larger machine tools for fabrication.
• Conduct complex preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Manage work order planning, scheduling, and documentation, including CMMS system use.
• Optimize maintenance activities to reduce downtime and costs.

Skills and Qualifications

• Interprovincial Journeyman License (Red Seal).
• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a production environment, preferably in food and beverage.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, communication, and planning skills.
• Ability to read complex diagrams and understand regulations and standards.
• Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, and laser alignment is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Physical: standing, walking, lifting moderate weights.
• Environmental: may involve working in extreme conditions, confined spaces, heights, and around heavy machinery.
• Shift work required.
