Job summary

SSR Mining Inc. is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team for underground and surface operations at a remote camp. You will provide mechanical support, follow manuals, and uphold our health and safety standards.

Key duties include repairing, overhauling, servicing equipment, interpreting work orders, training other mechanics, and forecasting parts. Candidates need an Interprovincial Heavy Duty trade certification and 4–5 years of heavy‑duty experience; underground experience

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Heavy-Duty trade certification required.
  • 4–5 years of heavy‑duty equipment experience required.
  • Alimak experience is an asset.
  • Underground experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects are carried out on budget and on time.
  • Repair surface and underground mechanical equipment promptly.
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
  • Overhaul, maintain, service, and recondition mining equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment for faults.
  • Determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and replace defective parts.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Lubricate and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Provide direction and training to mechanics and other departments.
  • Forecast parts and suggest repair methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department.

Job Description

Reporting to either the Supervisor, Maintenance, or the Mechanic, Heavy Duty, you will work with the Maintenance team and provide mechanical support and expertise to all areas of the underground and surface operations. This position requires a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment and the motivation to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. You will follow instruction, use shop and assembly manuals, and adhere to the health and safety standards established by SSR Mining.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure projects are carried out meticulously while meeting all budget and time constraints.
  • Repair surface and underground mechanical equipment in a timely and financially responsible manner.
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
  • Overhaul, maintain, service, and recondition mining equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work.
  • Give direction and training to all levels of mechanics as needed and to other departments as required.
  • Assist in forecasting parts.
  • Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the department.
Your Knowledge and Skills

Your Education and Experience
  • Interprovincial Heavy Duty trade certification (Technical mechanical diploma considered).
  • Minimum four to five years of heavy‑duty equipment experience.
  • Alimak experience an asset.
  • Experience working underground an asset.
About Our Working Conditions

This position schedule is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp. The candidate will be required to fly in/fly out with pick‑up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge.
