Under the general supervision of the Lead Mechanic, the Mechanic will perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnose and perform repairs to the Winnipeg Police Service Fleet.
As a Mechanic you will :
- Perform scheduled maintenance and safety checks.
- Component repairs / fabrication / installation.
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning repairs.
- Other duties.
Your education and qualifications include :
- High School Diploma or equivalency Certificate
- Red Seal Certification as an Automotive Mechanic
- 60 months of experience in automotive industry
- Welding / fabrication experience is an asset
- Heavy duty truck experience is an asset
- Advanced level understanding of automotive systems, including powertrain (engines, transaxles) brakes, and electrical systems
- Proficient in the correct use of hand and power tools, and the equipment required.
- Familiar with the computers and software programs that are used in auto shops and vehicles
- Strong organizational and time management skills, estimate time of service, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
- The ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, safe and healthy work environment that supports the physical, psychological and social working relationships with members at all levels in a team environment.

If you are not submitting proof of Grade 12 completed within Canada, we require you to submit proof of a full-time, two-year post-secondary program completed in Canada.
Minimum Requirements :
- Minimum 18 years of age
- No involvement in any criminal activity within the last two years (including illegal drugs)
- No criminal record for which a Pardon has not been granted
