Equans Services Canada & US in Gatineau is seeking a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer to operate, maintain and repair two central heating & cooling plants as part of a large District Energy System. The ESAP program offers career advancement, training, and hands-on responsibility.

Ideal candidates hold a Class 3 heating and Class A refrigeration certification with 3–5 years of relevant experience, and demonstrate autonomy, teamwork, and safety consciousness in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Certificate as stationary machinery mechanic: Class 3 in heating, Class A in refrigeration.
• Three to five years of experience as a stationary equipment mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains and repairs boilers, chillers, pumps, HVAC and related equipment.
• Performs daily rounds, inspections and energy efficiency monitoring.
• Coordinates with contractors and maintains EQUANS health and safety standards.
• Starts up and shuts down central plants and associated facilities as required.

Job Summary

As part of the Energy Services Acquisition Program (ESAP) the third-class Plant shift Supervisor, operates, maintain and repairs a wide range of equipment of two 3rd class Central Heating & Cooling Plants, and Electrical Substation and Pump House as part of a large District Energy System (DES). The DES comprises of several Stationary Engineers which brings on exciting career advancement opportunities

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs Plant equipment (Boilers, controls, chillers, pumps, HVAC, steam systems, Pump House equipment, Electrical Substation, Energy Transfer Stations (ETS), etc.)
• Test Plant equipment; maintain and clean machinery, equipment and building during operations.

As per applicable regulations and during his hours of work/shifts, must execute required operations and maintain performances of Power Plant machinery & equipment including gas fired boilers, electric hot water boilers, chilled water plant, electric motors, fans, pumps, air compressors, piping. Monitors/adjusts equipment.

• Prioritizes a good working relationship and client satisfaction.
• Carrying out operations and startup procedures of the Central Plants, Pump House, electrical Substation and their preventive maintenance, analyses and make the necessary recommendations and adjustments.
• Follow up on work with external contractors and always maintain EQUANS Health & Safety Standards.
• Perform daily rounds and inspections, maintain energy efficiency by recording and analyzing energy consumption.
• Maintain a high standard of the water treatment.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Authorized to work in Canada
• Ability to pass all background checks and security screenings
• Certificate as a stationary machinery mechanic: Class 3 in heating, Class A in refrigeration;
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a stationary equipment mechanic.
• Autonomy; Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dynamism, team spirit, and leadership;
• Good judgment, attention to detail;
• Service-oriented, courteous; Maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Knowledge of control system operations;
• Eligibility to obtain a Level II security clearance from the federal government.
