Job description

The Meat Manager will perform a variety of responsibilities in the operation, ensuring alignment with our Core Values and Brand.

  • Understanding and following Westview Co-op’s Health and Safety Program and promoting a culture of safety, including all Food Safety standards.
  • Providing exceptional guest service to our Members and Guests and living by our Brand expectations through our “You’re at Home Here” motto.
  • Leading the direction for Team Members in all areas including performance management, talent development, engagement, talent acquisition, orientation, and onboarding.
  • Responsible for the overall safe and effective operation of the Grocery Department, including scheduling, ordering, and maintaining Brand Standards.

Maintaining staff levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, developing personal growth opportunities, and training employees.

Maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment.

Achieving results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising performance through talent management, coaching, and disciplining employees.

Coordinating workloads and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

Establishing strategic goals by gathering relevant business, financial, service, and operational information; evaluating trends; defining objectives; and assessing outcomes.

Achieving financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, controlling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

Maintaining exceptional service by enforcing quality customer interactions and resolving problems.

Pursuing continual learning through educational workshops, CRS courses, and marketing meetings.

We are ideally seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Food Safe Certification
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in the retail food industry
  • Self-motivated, reliable, responsible, friendly, and hardworking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skills in performance management, coaching, supervision, quality management, results achievement, budgeting, standards implementation, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Ability to handle pressure and provide feedback in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to cooperative values and principles.
  • Sense of urgency and customer-first attitude.
  • Physical ability to perform movements, repetitive motions, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to work in cool and damp environments.
