You will interact directly with customers, answering questions about grilling, nutrition, and more. Our highly skilled Meat Clerks are trained to prepare the outstanding quality selections that Safeway is known for. Join our team and help offer our customers some of our best-selling products.

Job Description

Experience

  • Preference for candidates with previous Meat or Seafood experience
  • Safeway-specific training will be provided

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold and comply with company procedures, standards, and policies
  • Greet customers politely and professionally
  • Demonstrate superior customer service in line with Safeway’s programs
  • Maintain and build merchandise displays according to Safeway standards
  • Write and process orders
  • Receive and rotate products
  • Fill meat and seafood counters and showcases
  • Use hand wrappers and scales
  • Price meats and seafood accurately
  • Clean and sanitize work areas
  • Handle raw and cooked seafood safely

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly motivated and team-oriented
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner
  • Able to work in cold environments
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
  • Availability to work any shift on Sundays (Alberta only)

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly lift up to 20 pounds
  • Occasionally lift between 20-50 pounds
  • Frequently stand, bend, walk, twist, carry, push, or pull
  • Occasional exposure to cold temperatures
