Job Description

Position Overview

Manages the information technology and compliance related to Resident Care through coordinating the RAI-MDS process and monitoring quality outcomes and CIHI reports. Responsible for the quality of resident care and nursing restorative philosophy, and ensures compliance through coaching, mentoring, and discipline as required.

This position is also responsible for staff education, orientation, and mentoring to support the transfer of RAI MDS 2.0 and Quality Improvement knowledge within the home.

Essential Duties

  • Oversees Informatics on Quality Improvement and RAI-MDS 2.0 process for new staff or students.
  • Provides education and software training to staff on RAI-MDS 2.0, RAPS, outcome measures, quality indicators, and reports.
  • Coordinates AIS certification for new registered staff and annually thereafter.
  • Works with management and interdisciplinary teams to develop processes ensuring data integrity, efficient data collection, assessment completion, and data utilization.
  • Establishes data quality processes to evaluate MDS coding accuracy and timely completion.
  • Participates in developing the annual QIP and progress reports and quality initiatives.
  • Understands the nature and meaning of quality indicators used by the home and which indicators are publicly reported.
  • Coordinates data submission to CIHI.
  • Leads the Nursing Restorative program, orienting new staff and mentoring therapists.
  • Interprets legislative requirements, monitors compliance, and conducts quality improvement activities.
  • Counsels staff on non-compliance and unprofessional behaviour.
  • Assists with staff performance reviews in collaboration with the DOC/ADOC.
  • Engages in personal development and person-centred approaches.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Licensed health professional under the Health Disciplines Act, registered with a Canadian regulatory authority, and holds registration equivalent to Ontario standards under Bill 60.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with adult education and facilitation.
  • Ability to identify training needs.
  • Proficient with computers and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of RAI-MDS; AIS certification as RAI Educator preferred, or must be completed within one month.
  • Skills in data trending and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement.
  • At least two years of experience in long-term care, supervisory experience preferred.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening, recent TB test, and references required.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
