Description

Position Overview

Manages the information technology and compliance related to Resident Care through coordinating the RAI-MDS process and monitoring quality outcomes and CIHI reports. Responsible for the quality of resident care and nursing restorative philosophy, ensuring compliance through coaching, mentoring, and discipline as required.

This position is also responsible for staff education, orientation, and mentoring to support the transfer of RAI-MDS 2.0 and Quality Improvement knowledge within the home.

  • Provides an overview of Informatics on Quality Improvement and RAI-MDS 2.0 process to new staff or students.
  • Provides education and software training to staff on RAI-MDS 2.0, RAPS, outcome measures, quality indicators, and reports.
  • Coordinates AIS certification for new hires and annually thereafter.
  • Works with management and interdisciplinary team to develop processes that ensure data integrity, efficient data collection, assessment completion, and data utilization.
  • Establishes data quality processes to evaluate MDS coding accuracy and timeliness.
  • Participates in the development of the annual QIP and progress reports, and other quality initiatives.
  • Understands the nature and meaning of quality indicators used by the Home and which indicators are publicly reported.
  • Coordinates data submission to CIHI.
  • Leads the Nursing Restorative program, orienting new staff to its philosophy, policy, and criteria, and mentoring restorative therapists.
  • Interprets legislative requirements to the nursing team and monitors compliance through CQI activities.
  • Counsels staff on non-compliance and unprofessional behavior.
  • Assists with staff performance reviews in collaboration with DOC/ADOC.
  • Engages in personal development and fosters a person-centered approach.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Registered health professional licensed under relevant Canadian jurisdiction, with equivalent registration to practice in Ontario under Bill 60.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with adult education and facilitation.
  • Ability to identify training needs.
  • Proficient in computer skills and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of RAI-MDS, ideally AIS certified as RAI Educator, or must complete certification within one month.
  • Skills in data trending and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement processes.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in long-term care.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening, recent TB test, and references.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
