Job summary

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking a MDRD Technician (CEN) at the Centenary Site on a permanent, part-time basis. The role involves processing, decontamination and sterilization of hospital supplies under the Manager, Medical Devices Reprocessing.

Qualified candidates will hold a Central Services or MDR certificate, demonstrate infection control knowledge and pass an MDRD competency test with a passing score of 80%. SHN emphasizes inclusion and a healthy work environment.

Qualifications

  • Requires Central Services or MDR certificate from an accredited Community College.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly, packaging, endoscopy, sterilization and sterile storage/distribution.
  • MDRD competency test with 80% passing score.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control in reprocessing of medical devices.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to make quick assessments in a fast-paced department.
  • Excellent English reading, writing, speaking and comprehension.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Medical Devices Reprocessing, you will be responsible for the processing, decontamination and sterilization of hospital supplies.

Requirements
  • Central Services Certificate or Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from an accredited Community College
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly and packaging, endoscopy, sterilization and sterile storage and distribution
  • MDRD competency test will be conducted, passing score of 80% required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of importance of infection prevention and control in the reprocessing of medical devices
  • Demonstrates good customer service and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make quick assessments to establish timely priorities in a very fast paced department
  • Demonstrates excellent English reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills
  • Experience in functioning within a team concept with good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Understand the importance in utilization of personal protective equipment, identify and reports hazards
