Job description

Position Summary

The Deck Utility is to carry out all tasks as directed by the deck officers of the vessel. All duties relating to the maintenance of the deck, line-handling, slip-assist lines, cargo transfers and Watchkeeping duties.

Main Responsibilities
    • Assisting in the safe docking of the vessel, which includes line-handling.
    • Performing navigational watches
    • General maintenance (painting/chipping and cleaning) as directed by Chief Officer.
    • Must exhibit the ability to work alone without supervision yet maintain compliance with all safety policies.
    • Must possess good communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
    • The Deck Utility must hold the following minimum qualifications
    • Bridge Watch Rating (BWR, STCW 95 II/4).
    • MED with respect to STCW basic safety; MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
    • Marine Basic First Aid.
    • Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
    • Oil Tanker Familiarization
    • A valid Passport and Marine Medical
    • Eligible to enter the US
