Job description

Role: Construction Manager for High Voltage CT Replacement and 500kV Circuit Breakers

Estimated Work Start Date: 01-Apr-2025

Estimated Work End Date: 31-Dec-2025

Location: Mica Creek, BC - approximately 140 km north of Revelstoke BC.

Work Schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off; negotiable.

Compensation: Max T4 Rate: $88.12/hr; Max INC Rate: $106.62/hr.

Applicant Location: Okanagan region. The role is primarily field-based with flexible scheduling.

Experience and Role Accountabilities
  • Minimum 15 years of construction management experience or equivalent.
  • Manage material, financial, and human resources; ensure project quality, safety, budget, and schedule adherence.
  • Prioritize site safety; perform and review Safe Work Observations; enforce safety standards and regulations.
  • Develop mitigation plans; manage risks including environmental, safety, and stakeholder relations.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and public consultations for construction activities.
  • Handle construction inquiries and issues; maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert; participate in committees and advise on technical issues.
  • Support project activities, including claims management and team collaboration.
Education and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and safety standards (OSH, WorkSafe).
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
Must Have Experience
  • Installing, testing, and commissioning high voltage electrical equipment.
  • Managing complex construction or supply contracts, including RFP development and claims mitigation.
Location Preferences and Scope of Work

Preferred locations within ~400 km radius: Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon.

Scope includes:

  • Installing and commissioning 500 MW generator neutral CTs.
  • Installing and commissioning three (3) single-phase 500 kV circuit breakers.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule outages and isolation requirements.
  • Develop construction and commissioning plans.
  • Manage small team of Construction Officers ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and quality.
  • Administer construction and supply contracts as needed.
Desired Experience
  • Leading small teams.
  • Industrial construction and high voltage electrical experience.
  • RFP development and contract management (nice to have).
