Summary of the role

• Prepares 3D models and 2D drawings from references, sketches, or based on instructions from engineer or senior designer;
• Creates drawing associated material lists;
• Reviews drawings and material lists to check for errors, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and internal design standards;
• Ensures that designs can be manufactured, are transportable and operational. Proposes design improvements to reduce cost and improve quality as needed;
• Participates in continuous improvement activities;
• Data entry into the material resource planning system (SAP);
• Performs drawing revisions;
• Responsible for the execution time of own work and participates in schedule updates;
• Responsible for the quality and precision of own work.

Minimum Requirements

• College Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;
• Good knowledge of heavy mechanical equipment, welded structures, methods of manufacturing and machining as well as drafting rules and practices;
• Strong background in 3D design;
• Autonomous;
• Fluency in French & English;
• Knowledge of Unigraphics NX8, Teamcenter, and SAP is an asset;
• Knowledge of hydro turbine (turbine and generator) is an asset.
