Salary Range : $53,795 $88,761 (commensurate with education and experience)

Position Overview :

Banbury Crossroads School Authority is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and versatile Math and Science Teacher for Grades 712, to join our small and dedicated staff team. This full-time teaching position is ideal for an educator who is comfortable and confident working across two unique programs :

  • A self-directed learning environment, where students take ownership of their education with teacher support, guidance, and mentorship.
  • A program designed for students with learning challenges and neurodiverse profiles , where individualized learning strategies, flexibility, and strong rapport-building are essential.

This is a unique opportunity to work in an innovative, relationship-centered school community where educators are valued for their initiative, creativity, and ability to meet students where they are.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Teach mathematics and science courses to students in Grades 712 in both the self-directed "School" and learning challenges "Academy" programs.
  • Design and adapt learning materials to support a variety of learning styles and individual program plans (IEPs / IPPs), where applicable.
  • Collaborate closely with other teachers, support staff, and parents to support student progress.
  • Create a classroom environment that is inclusive, responsive, and conducive to either self-paced learning for the School program, or teacher-directed learning in the Academy program.
  • Monitor and report on student achievement through formative and summative assessments, exhibitions, and formal report cards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school community events.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized institution.
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (Permanent or Interim Professional Certificate).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both mathematics and science at the secondary level (Grades 712).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered, inclusive, and differentiated teaching practices for a diverse student population including students with special needs, gifted students, and others.
  • Must be a Calgary resident or willing to relocate.

Preferred Attributes :

  • Experience working in alternative, Montessori, or self-directed education models.
  • Familiarity with neurodiversity, differentiated instruction, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Comfort supporting both academic and emotional development.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues in a small school setting.
  • Graduate degrees in education or a related field are considered an asset.
