Job summary

The Canadian Armed Forces employ Materiel Management Technicians to ensure that supplies such as food, fuel, spare parts and clothing are available for operations across land, sea and air domains. They may work on ships, bases or remote postings, and can serve in Regular or Reserve capacities depending on posting.

Starting with the Basic Military Qualification, technicians attend the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre in Ontario.

Qualifications

• No previous work experience required.
• Basic Military Qualification course for all entrants.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing, warehousing, shipping, receiving, stock control and disposal of stock and equipment.
• Receive, handle and prepare items for shipment.
• Operate military vehicles up to 10 tons and material-handling equipment such as forklifts.
• Process invoices and prepare shipping documents.
• Order material from internal and external sources and purchase supplies.
• Deliver supplies to operational units and maintain inventory records.
