Our Ideal Candidate

We are currently seeking Field Materials Technician(s) with a strong background in concrete, aggregate, and soil testing to join our Construction Services team for various field projects in St. John's and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will assist the Field Lead in coordinating and conducting laboratory testing onsite and in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Field Lead in conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, and concrete.
  • Perform a variety of lab materials testing and field testing.
  • Mentor new and junior employees.
  • Maintain laboratory certifications.
  • Communicate test results and provide technical advice, both orally and in writing, to internal staff and external clients regarding soils, concrete, and aggregate issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure projects meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines in the lab and field.
  • Coordinate field equipment, perform routine maintenance, and calibrate instruments.

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma is an asset but not required.
  • At least 1 year of progressive experience in lab and field materials testing.
  • CCIL and/or CSA certification preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites around British Columbia.
