Job Responsibilities
- Implement the Health and Safety Act and Highway Traffic Regulations for transportation.
- Provide direct supervision and issue task assignments for all Material department teams and activities.
- Supervise customer interactions, ensure delivery performance, and resolve any violation disputes.
- Schedule and maintain detailed production plans considering capacity, material availability, and labor resources using SAP MRP and Excel.
- Provide training, guidance, and problem-solving support for shippers, receivers, inventory clerks, material handlers, and lead hands.
- Manage inventory, housekeeping, organization, FIFO, and stock rotation.
- Monitor inventory levels daily to meet KPI targets and optimize inventory to balance demand with carrying costs.
- Supervise shipping/receiving functions, material movements, and personnel to ensure safe and efficient flow of materials.
- Oversee IMS/SAP functions related to shipping, receiving, and warehouse management.
- Organize and optimize warehouse storage to maximize space utilization.
- Coordinate freight activities with contracted carriers to minimize costs.
- Identify and resolve operational roadblocks and develop improvements in operating procedures.
- Perform root cause analysis and address arising issues.
- Track production output against schedule, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions for on-time delivery.
- Supervise and lead ECNs from the Materials department for smooth implementation.
- Manage electronic transmission of customer documentation via EDI systems (Gentran).
- Coordinate JIT pickup and delivery with suppliers, subcontractors, and customers in collaboration with Material Planners.
- Supervise tracking of customer-owned and Multimatic-owned returnable containers.
- Participate actively in daily and monthly employee meetings.
- Lead physical inventory activities.
- Establish window time controls on docks and methods to measure attainment.
- Conduct performance reviews for direct reports and provide feedback.
- Monitor manpower needs for shipping and receiving and recommend adjustments.
- Report issues directly to the Manager.
- Ensure compliance with IATF standards and all company and departmental procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or department manager.
- In case of quality nonconformance, halt processes, follow non-conforming procedures, and initiate corrective actions.
- Address customer concerns promptly and escalate as necessary.
- Maintain environmental compliance per ISO 14001 standards and minimize risks of accidents.
- Follow all safety, health, and environmental policies and legislative requirements.
- Practice Kaizen principles and participate in related activities.
