Job summary

Modatek Systems, a division of Magna International, seeks a Materials Coordinator to manage material flows, shipping schedules, and coordination with logistics to support daily production in a Canadian plant. Experience in materials or supply chain is preferred, with knowledge of CMS and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Materials/SCM is an asset.
• One year manufacturing experience, automotive preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create, monitor and modify daily shipping schedules.
• Coordinate schedules with logistics companies and drivers.
• Obtain transportation quotes for shipments.
• Expedite material as required by planners or production.
• Communicate with logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
• Prepare shipping documents per Modatek procedures.
• Send and monitor ASNs; maintain records.
• Monitor vendor releases and inventories; cover production lines.
• Maintain customer routings and carrier performance reports.
• Maintain BOL and customs documentation records.
• Provide reports and contribute studies as needed.
• Support production planning during off shifts and assist as required.
• Cover for other Material Coordinators to balance workload.
• Investigate issues and implement solutions.
• Update TS documents when procedures change.
• Promote continuous improvement of material processes.
• Follow SOPs and Quality/Environment programs.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Responsibilities

At Modatek Systems (a division of Magna International) the Materials Coordinator is responsible for the flow of material in and out of the plant for the purpose of maintaining normal production to meet customer needs

Hourly Range: $30.43 - $34.15

Job Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Materials Management or Supply Chain Management is an asset
• One (1) year of manufacturing experience, preferably in automotive
• Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, multiple demands and support multiple production planning programs
• Strong computer skills required, as well as knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and carrier management system (CMS)
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to uphold confidentiality
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs

Job Responsibilities

• Creates, monitors and modifies daily shipping schedules, in accordance with customer demands
• Coordinates shipping schedules with logistics companies and truck drivers as required
• Obtains transportation quotes for production and/or non-production shipments
• Expedites material as required by Planners or production requirements
• Communicates with logistics companies to ensure the on-time delivery of material, both to and from Modatek Systems
• Ensures that shipping documentation is prepared in accordance with Modatek procedures
• Sends and monitors Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) and maintains all cumulative records
• Monitors vendor releases and online inventories to ensure that Modatek is up to schedule, and that production lines are covered
• Maintains customer routings, monitors and reports carrier performance issues
• Maintains record retentions of Bill of Lading (BOL) and Customs documentation
• Issues reports as assigned and contributes various studies as required.
• Supports production planning functions during off shifts and utilizes information provided to make material scheduling decisions in accordance with the Modatek Material planning procedures
• Provides coverage for Material Planners or other Material Coordinators to balance workload or as required
• Investigates issues, and develops and implements solutions
• Updates TS documents when changes occur to procedures that are implemented
• Promotes continuous improvement of material processes
• Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e., IATF16949, ISO14001)
• Performs other duties as required

Work And Physical Environment

• Works in a manufacturing environment, and will be exposed to elements such as temperature and noise

• Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
