Job Summary
The Materials and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing material planning, procurement, and logistics activities specific to custom prefabricated bridge projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate sourcing of materials, timely work order generation, and organized shipment of completed projects. The role supports operations by closely collaborating with engineering, suppliers, production teams, and logistics providers.
What You Will Do
- Material Planning & Procurement:
- Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) received from Engineering for each custom bridge project
- Cross-reference BOMs with available inventory to identify required materials
- Source and purchase materials (including structural steel) by:
- Requesting and comparing quotes
- Entering costs and delivery details into internal systems
- Confirming and tracking deliveries from suppliers
- Work Order Management:
- Create Work Orders once all materials are confirmed
- Coordinate with production to initiate fabrication based on material readiness
- Ensure all documentation and system entries related to Work Orders are accurate and complete
- Shipping & Logistics:
- Coordinate transportation of completed bridges, including:
- Delivery for galvanization
- Transfer to third-party vendors
- Final shipment to job sites
- Ensure shipping documents, schedules, and carriers are organized and communicated
- Inventory Oversight:
- Monitor materials and inventory levels specific to bridge projects
- Assist with inventory updates and cycle counts
- Collaborate with warehouse and operations staff to verify material availability and accuracy
- Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Act as a liaison between engineering, operations, and purchasing
- Escalate material or delivery issues that may impact timelines
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of logistics and materials management processes
Education
What You Will Need:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in supply chain, business, or logistics preferred
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in materials coordination, logistics, procurement, or project support (preferably in a manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environment)
Skills
- Proficiency with procurement or ERP systems
- Solid understanding of BOMs and material tracking
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication with internal teams and external vendors
- Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Work Conditions
- Office-based with regular interaction with production, engineering, and suppliers
- Occasional visits to the warehouse, shipping facilities, or job sites may be required
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $52000 - $63000. The actual wage offered will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
