Job summary

Brandt is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Winnipeg Construction and Forestry location. The Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling independently performs basic/complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment on an efficient basis.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems.
• Diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine powered material handling equipment.
• Experience with the use of hand tools and measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements.
• Knowledge and experience with industrial equipment that includes lifting/rigging, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial mechanical service equipment.
• Exposure to aligning equipment, using dial indicators/calipers, micrometers, hoists or jacks is a plus.
• Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs.
• Trade qualification in Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Automotive, Truck/Transport considered an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
• A commitment to high quality customer service with a strong people orientation.

Responsibilities

• Manage Productivity: Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
• Maintain a high level of productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
• Record all work for customer and warranty records with accuracy.
• Maintain current product knowledge of equipment specific to industry/branch location.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly manner.
• Follow all safety rules and OH&S standards to ensure a safe working environment.
